As the title states, I'm having an issue with SecuritySpy's motion detection continually recording at night. I'm using a newly purchased Hikvision DS-2CD2432-IW, recording 1080p@30FPS. I have motion to start recording after 2 seconds, and then at minimum record 10 seconds after the motion, saving in one video per day.To my amazement I woke up this morning and my video file was over 30gb, and it's 95% just recording the darkness (IR illumination) at night with no detectable movement. I checked before I went to bed and the motion sensitivity bar is set at 70% and in total darkness the meter which shows detected movement is full 100% of the time.

Why would SecuritySpy be detecting so much 'movement' with just night time IR? This seems to only happen on a camera of this quality, I attempted the same on a crappy Foscam and the IR at night doesn't cause SS to detect 'motion' and continually record.Any suggestions would be great. Thanks for the comments everyone. Removing the Date/Time OSD from the camera did nothing to change the fact that SS still constantly recorded at night. I was doing some testing on my own and found that reducing the sensitivity to a range in the 50's prevented recording at night, but also prevented SecuritySpy from recognizing me clearly walking across the room. I had the motion meter up on my TV while I walked in the room in the darkness and the movement never triggered enough movement for SecuritySpy to start recording. As a matter of fact, I was doing jumping jacks in the clear view of the camera and it wasn't detecting my motion enough to trigger it.As jay stated, being an indoor camera it's nice to have the IR set to turn on automatically because it's not as cut and dry as sun down/up.
If I set the camera to turn the IR on with a certain schedule I can manually adjust picture settings that would probably help SS better trigger real motion and ignore noise, but that's a less than ideal situation since the IR may be on during unnecessary times and off when it's needed. I will continue to test and hopefully be able to get a happy medium.
