They are just an example/optional right? For example, I want to create a conjurer, but that medium/heavy-look armor isn't exactly what I expect when I see the word conjurer.I would rather have the wizard robes or something like the Inquisitor armor/Fane's default armor in OriginsAlso, the battlemage preset uses Axe/Axe, but Sword/Shield would be viable too right?I was thinking about a 'Paladin' class, the usual Warrior with hydro for healing, but since I would be investing into hydro, I could also get some hydro damaging spells, right?
Or the damage would be too low?I don't exactly know what I want lol but it would be kind of a Magick Knight from Dragons Dogma.Using sword (Spellsword) to cast magic instead of staves or wandsSorry, I'm new to this game (but I played DOS1). For a battlemage physical weapons are a bad idea. A melee mage is absolutely playable, but should always be using a staff keyed to whichever element you favor (my suggestion would be Aero, since several of its best spells are bursts centered on you).
- Divinity: Original Sin 2 is an expansive RPG with an almost ridiculous number of interactive systems. That makes it amazing for long-time cRPG fans, but also pretty overwhelming for anybody coming.
- Armor Recipes As with all Blacksmithing creations, the level listed below is only the minimum. Higher Blacksmithing levels lead to better stats on the gear that is made.
Enough strength to equip a piece or two of strength-based armor can be a worthwhile investment, but beyond that it's better to invest in Intelligence and use Uncanny Evasion/Evasive Aura to avoid taking physical damage altogether.Paladins suffer from a similar problem. Non-damaging Hydro spells improve only based on your level and your Hydro skill (that includes using healing spells to damage the undead), but if you're not improving your warfare and two handed (which IMO beats shield use hands-down since Reactive Armor got nerfed) you're not improving your damage.
Also, melee fighters can get access to a talent which increases their vitality with each point they place in Warfare, allowing them to tank and deal damage effectively. If you're splitting points into Hydro you'll lose out on that option as well. Deathknights (warriors with a secondary investment in Necromancy) are a much better bet in DOS2. Make him an antihero. Antiheroes are hip! To be serious though, this seems to be one of the few fantasy properties where the various magic types, Source aside, aren't viewed through a moral lens.
They're simply natural forces that can be harnessed in order to achieve certain results; no different from momentum or friction. Sure you can put them to evil uses, but that's the fault of the user, not the tool.If you're dead set against Necromancy then Polymorph is a close second in terms of utility. The Bull Horns is free to cast, lasts forever, increases your Retribution by 1, and comes with 2 AP charge attack. Tentacle Lash is a nice way to half assedly CC weapon users, Flay Skin remains nice, even after the nerf, and Skin Graft is one of the most effective powers in the game.
