Halo 2 Pc Split Screen Mod
Hey guys,Got my Halo 2, and my friend and I are playing 2 player cooperative mode through the campaign.Problem: the game's default split screen is vertical (screen is split into 2 screens side by side, one for each player)Is there any way to play with a HORIZONTAL split screen, so your screens are top and bottom instead? I'm going to be VERY upset. The default split screen is AWFUL! You can't see what's shooting you, you're constantly spinning around trying to find targets that you can't see, it's so tunnel-vision. I HATE IT!I can't for the life of me figure out how to change the split screen options for 2 player cooperative campaign. Please don't tell me they just decided to axe this option. It was in the original.How do I do it?
Yesterday I started messing around with stuff, and figured out that the split screen mode is dependent on how your XBOX video settings are configured. Just like Martin said, your XBOX itself (with no game in it) can be set to one of 3 video modes: Normal, Letterbox, and Widescreen. When set to Normal or Letterbox the split screen in Halo 2 is set so one player's screen is on top and one is on the bottom.
But if your XBOX is configured to Widescreen mode, Halo 2 then chooses the side-by-side split screen. Which is just AWFUL unless you have an EXTREMELY wide TV. Ours is a 63' (I think) HDTV, and even that's not big enough to be able to play the side-by-side split screen confortably. So I downgraded the video settings to Letterbox so it will play top-bottom.Thanks for all your help guys. I wasn't about to sit a 63' HDTV on it's side Robert!
